About

RENEE PHILLIPS

I have been practicing various healing arts since 2008 when I embarked on the first step of my journey in bodywork as a clinical massage therapy student at Cortiva Institute, Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy. Since then I have taken many courses and read many books to enrich my understanding of the human body and the ways in which it can be supported to achieve wholeness on physical as well as emotional and spiritual levels. Born with a curious spirit, I am in constant awe at the amazing abilities of the body and spirit to heal. I also hold a deep belief in doing my own personal healing work as an avenue for deeper connection with myself and my clients.

I am an avid enjoyer of nature, meditation, moon practices and respect for all forms of life. I am an advocate for women's empowerment, kind treatment of animals and eco-friendly lifestyles. Some of the modalities that I use are: Myofascial/Scar release, Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy (Upledger), Lymphatic Drainage, Movement Taping(specializing in pregnant belly slings), Cupping and The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy.

I consider my practice to be trauma informed. This means that for those who have experienced trauma, my practice is a safe space as I have an understanding of the physiological as well as emotional effects of traumatic experiences and can support clients specific to this demographic with the loving kindness and respect they need in order to flourish.

Experience

Life is a journey...

Throughout the years I have been afforded the great privilege of many varied  educational experiences. I had the wonderful experience of growing up on a farm where I learned the value of hard-work . This has been such a wonderful platform from which to launch myself into the healing arts which can take both hard work and patience to master. I completed my Massage Therapy Certification from Cortiva Institute, Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy, in 2008. I have worked in several different settings, ( Chiropractic office, gym, spa) until finding my true home working with some of the most talented healers I know, at Pathways to Healing Wellness Center in Reading PA in 2012. Over the course of my massage career I have pursued several specialties. My main passions are Craniosacral and The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy(T) ( Arvigo for short) I began my training in the subtle and complex art of CranioSacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute in 2013 and have since taken several other advanced classes to hone my skills. It has been an incredibly impactful skill I use everyday in my massage practice. I was led to Arvigo by a passing comment  in 2016 from my veterinarian who told me to look into it. I took the first of my certification classes a few months later and completed my Professional Care Training in 2018 to allow me to share this incredible work with others in my community.

Other certifications that I have include:

Myofacial Movement Taping-I have a particular knack for creating pregnant belly slings to provide relief for moms to be whose bodies struggle to accommodate the dynamics of their growing bellies, especially during the third trimester.

Cupping: This ancient Eastern technique can create those signature circular marks. Seldom have I found a technique that has such profoundly positive effects in such a short amount of time. I personally use cupping on myslef regularly.

Lymphatic Drainage: A wonderful addition to any massage to help the body detox. I trained with a wonderful Lymphadema therapist with over 20 years of experience, and it showed, she was magnificently knowledgeable. I continue to take instruction on this topic.
